Es Molinar Children’s School en Palma de Mallorca

The project responds intelligently to the program, seeking the attention to detail of the small scale of the children, organizing to the East through the work rooms, and growing with free forms to the West, where the play spaces of the small ones are linked with the circulations around the courtyards, which illuminate and ventilate all spaces under the only cover plane. Two different faces: the façade to the street shows order and rhythm, and the interior façade, shows movement and creativity.

The structure is very simple, solving the roof deck through a 20cm concrete slab, being able to adapt to the organic geometry of the spaces. The slab is supported on reinforced concrete walls and rectangular steel supports #100.60 or circular hollow steel ones Ø100, which, without following the Cartesian grid, allow to hide the presence of rain downpipes. It enhances the slenderness of the supports by using double base and head inlay, and the intraslational effect provided by the zigzag walls on the west edge of the project.
